VATICAN CITY (AP) — Is Pope Francis an exorcist? The question has bubbled up ever since Francis laid his hands on the head of a young man in a wheelchair after celebrating Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square. The young man heaved deeply a half-dozen times, shook, then slumped in his wheelchair as Francis prayed over him. The television station of the Italian bishops' conference reported Monday that it had surveyed exorcists, who agreed there was "no doubt" that Francis either performed an exorcism or a prayer to free the man from the devil. The Vatican was more cautious. In a statement Tuesday, it said Francis "didn't intend to perform any exorcism. But as he often does for the sick or suffering, he simply intended to pray for someone who was suffering who was presented to him." Fueling the speculation is Francis' obsession with Satan, a frequent subject of his homilies, and an apparent surge in demand for exorcisms among the faithful despite the irreverent treatment the rite often receives from Hollywood.

Suppression of speech fine if Muslims threaten violence

 A federal judge has issued a startling ruling that suppressing Christian speech is allowed when Muslims threaten violence because they’re upset over the message. The ruling from Judge Patrick J. Duggan in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan granted Wayne County’s motion for summary judgment of a lawsuit brought by a team of Christians who were badgered, bullied and targeted with garbage thrown by Muslims who disliked their message at last year’s Arab Fest in Dearborn, Mich.

 The violence developed at the 2012 events when Christian evangelists walking on public sidewalks surrounding the event while carrying signs with biblical messages were assaulted with stones, bottles and debris by attendees of the festival. The signs that brought on the attack included “Know the God of the Bible” and “Trust Jesus.”

 Several of the Christian demonstrators walked away bruised and bloodied from the attack. Ruben Israel, the leader of the group, pleaded with law enforcement officials to intervene so that the demonstration could continue peacefully. However, the officer refused and demanded the Christians leave the premises or face arrest for disorderly conduct. Shortly after, Israel contacted AFLC, which filed a federal lawsuit against Wayne County and several officials from the Wayne County sheriff’s office. AFLC charged that the officers failed to uphold their constitutional duty to protect the Christians.

Iran recruits online for militants to fight Israel

An Iranian website associated with the revolutionary leader Ali Khamenei is using online posters and propaganda materials to recruit militants to fight "Salafists” and "Zionist dogs”. Appealing to the "pride of the young Iranians” and to their "revolutionary duty" to create "resistance cells”, these materials are helping to mobilize young Iranians to travel to Syria to fight against Israel in order to achieve “martyr” status.

Any Syrian military response to the Israeli attack, itself in response to Syrian weapons bound for Hezbollah, would obviously be in Iran’s interests. This sentiment was broadly acknowledged by the chairman of the Iranian Basij militia, Mohammadreza Naqdi, who, on May 7th, said, "With [Israel’s] attack against Syria, the victory of the global Islamic movement against Zionism and for the liberation of Jerusalem has been pushed forward by eight years."

 Why exactly the fight against Israel has been advanced by “eight years” remains a mystery, or more likely a rhetorical anomaly, but Naqdi did further elaborate on the ‘positives’, from an Iranian perspective, of Israel’s attack: "Anyone who feels pride will come to war against Israel. The media has a duty to inform the people."

Police Bar Jews from Temple Mount

Police barred Jews from entering the Temple Mount on Thursday, after Muslim groups threatened violence in the wake of a plan to bring Jewish children to visit the site. The plan, organized by groups encouraging Jewish visits to the Mount, was meant to be an educational program that would demonstrate rituals associated with the Temple, such as the bringing of bikurim ("First Fruits", the gift to the Temple brought on Shavuot).

 Over the past few days, chatter on Islamic web sites indicated that the groups would be met by rioters. Instead of seeking to defuse the situation or defend the groups of visiting children, police chose to capitulate to the threats, and announced that they were closing the Mount to all non-Moslems out of “concern for public safety.” The decision came only a little while before the tour was set to begin, at 8:30, and after dozens of children and their families – many coming from far distances – had already gathered at the Kotel.

Who are the Two Witnesses?

The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11 will not be the Jewish and the Gentile church. They will not be Moses and Elijah reincarnated. John the Baptist was not literally Elijah; yet Jesus said that he fulfilled the Elijah prophecy because he came in the spirit and power of Elijah. Likewise, the Two Witnesses will be two ordinary people that apparently come in the spirit and power of Moses and Elijah. These two prophets are almost certainly alive on this earth right now, and are being prepared by God for the ministry for which they have been ordained. The time for the revelation of the Antichrist and False Prophet is near. These two men will be Satan’s two witnesses. God has an answer for Satan’s master plan. He will present His Two Witnesses to the world. They will preach the full truth of God’s Word for three and one-half years. They will then die in Jerusalem. After 3 1/2 days, they will be resurrected and caught up into the sky. Yes, Satan’s messengers will deceive the world and corrupt the people of the world by his flatteries. But, the people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits!

As pressure for an “international” solution to the Middle East problem mounts with each passing bullet, let us consider what the prophecies forecast for the times just ahead.

A global leader will pave the way for Israel to build her Third Temple. Daily sacrifices in the temple will begin. There will be a war in heaven. Satan will be forbidden access to heaven and will no longer be able to function as the “accuser of the brethren.” When this happens, the Bible says that the global leader will walk into Israel’s temple, stop the sacrifices and claim to be Messiah and God. This event, called in the Bible the “abomination of desolation,” will trigger Satan’s 3 1/2 year war against the saints. This time of great tribulation is described in Revelation 13:5-7.

E-Verify’ A huge step toward a permission-slip society

“Maybe we should just brand all the babies.” With this mocking remark, Ronald Reagan dismissed a national ID proposal in 1981. In the 32 years since, Americans have rejected various forms of national ID. 
But now biometric national ID is back at America’s doorstep, and most Americans don’t even realize. 

Unless states refuse the hundreds of millions of dollars allocated by the bill for this purpose, which is highly unlikely, the Department of Homeland Security will have a national biometric identification database that includes every U.S. worker.

E-Verify is "an Internet-based system operated by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in partnership with the Social Security Administration (SSA). E-Verify is currently free to employers and is available in all 50 states. E-Verify provides an automated link to federal databases to help employers determine employment eligibility of new hires and the validity of their Social Security numbers." It is currently a voluntary system. House bill H.R. 2885, however, would make it mandatory for all employers. The result is an even more intrusive National ID System than the REAL ID, against which DownsizeDC.org has successfully fought.

 The nominal intent of the bill is to crack down on illegal immigration, even though America has a shortage of unskilled labor and would be better served by broadening immigration law. And yet the victims of the bill will be innocent, law-abiding employers and employees. For instance . . . The Social Security Administration estimates 3.6 million Americans would have to visit an SSA field office each year in order to KEEP their jobs — one of them might be you! 73% of businesses employ 10 or fewer people, and it is unknown how many currently lack the resources and technology to implement E-Verify.

That's why a coalition of national and state pro-freedom, limited government, and Constitutional government organizations sent a letter to members of Congress explaining why H.R. 2885 must be opposed. Here is a digested version of the objections . . . This Act would require each American to ask permission from the Federal Government when hiring or being hired. It creates a de facto National Identification System that could grow to include biometrics such as fingerprints, DNA and/or iris scan. This is tantamount to an unconstitutional, warrantless search.

 It won't be long before employers will be required to verify whether employees are delinquent in the payment of federal, state, or local taxes, in compliance with child support or alimony decrees, on a terrorist watch list, or convicted, let alone accused of crime. Errors in the verification process will be practically immune from timely legal redress, and in 2009 (under a voluntary system) about 80,000 workers likely received erroneous findings from the system and may have lost their jobs. Despite the sales pitch of politicians, this bill doesn't protect employers from criminal prosecution should they employ an individual later proven to be in the U.S. illegally, or who has successfully assumed a fake or stolen identity.

 The loss of jobs will be staggering as employers substitute machinery for employees or outsource employment to avoid the vexations and costs of compliance, as will the loss of tax revenues as jobs go underground — just what we need in today's economy. It will create an unprecedented black market demand for fake identities coveted by those seeking employment, particularly for short-term jobs where illegal workers will be long-gone before there is any chance of detection. And will make it very difficult for law-abiding victims of identity theft to find work. Once again, this could be you.
